All About Treadmills

You are thinking about buying a treadmill but are not sure where to start. What should you look out for to make sure that you end up with a model that is suitable for your personal requirements? The answer is that it depends on how you wish to use a treadmill and on your personal circumstances.

From a casual look in gym equipment stores and on dealers' websites you will have seen that there is a huge range of models and this is for the very good reason that there is a wide variation in peoples' individual circumstances and preferences.

Your choice of machine will be affected by your height and weight. Obviously a tall male will require a more substantial model than a slightly-built female.

Then again, do you want to use the treadmill mainly for walking or for jogging and running as well?

If you are planning to do a lot of running, you will need to look at models at the top end of the range. On the other hand if a brisk walk is all that you are after, a lower quality machine will be all you need.

One major factor you will need to consider is where you will keep your treadmill. Although different models vary in size, they all take up a fair amount of space. If you do not have a suitable spot where your treadmill can be placed in your home, then you should consider a folding model that can be stowed away when not in use.

These are some of the basic matters you should consider when you are thinking about buying a treadmill. On other pages on this site we go into further detail on the specific features which you should check before making your final choice. There are also reviews of a number of different models. I run because it's my passion, and not just a sport. Every time I walk out the door, I know why I'm going where I'm going and I'm already focused on that special place where I find my peace and solitude. Running, to me, is more than just a physical exercise... it's a consistent reward for victory!

Too many people confine their exercise to jumping to conclusions, running up bills, stretching the truth, bending over backward, lying down on the job, sidestepping responsibility and pushing their luck.
